Cream Cheese Brownies

So I’m not really interested in being a food blogger, but I do like to cook and bake from time to time. What I’d like to do is make my own personal recipe collection (my cookbook?).

I had some cream cheese sitting around and I had a craving for brownies, and the result is these cream cheese brownies. I found a recipe for adding cream cheese to a box mix, but I didn’t have a box mix handy (and I’m really too prideful to use one anyway), so I searched up a recipe. This is the result of combining those two recipes.

Cream Cheese Brownies

Cream cheese filling

  • 4 oz. cream cheese
  • 1/3 cup white sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract


  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1/2 cup white sugar
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/3 cup cocoa powder
  • 1/3 cup flour
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp baking powder
  • 3/4 cup chocolate chips


  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F and prepare 13x9 pan.

Cream Cheese Filling

  1. Beat cream cheese and sugar in medium bowl until smooth.

  2. Add egg and vanilla, beat until well blended.

  3. Set cream cheese filling aside.


  1. In large saucepan, melt 1/2 cup butter. Remove from heat.

  2. Stir in the sugar, eggs, and vanilla. Beat in cocoa, flour, salt, and baking powder.

  3. Put 2/3 batter into prepared pan. Spoon cream cheese filling on top of the batter. Pour remaining batter on top of the filling. Sprinkle chocolate chips on top.

  4. Put pan in oven and bake for 30 minutes. When a toothpick can be inserted and removed cleanly, the brownies are done.
